In case you haven't noticed...I've been a little MIA lately...mainly due to PINTEREST, and ugh...Downton Abby (more on this later)! If you haven't heard of them, be prepared to be OBSESSED!
The "Pin"abilities are endless!
- What I LOVE about Pinterest is that everyone who shares my interests does all the hard work for me! I get to pick and choose from all the best websites, blogs, and tutorials by "pinning" them to my categorized boards. My boards make it easy for me to find my favorite websites or "projects to do" with a simple mouse click.
- The other AMAZING thing is I am connecting with all my friends and family through shared interests. My sister and I are craftoholics and love to make all kinds of homemade goodies and gifts. Instead of having to cut and paste links into emails to each other, she can check out my pinboards or I can even email her the pin! So great!
- I love that pinterest is a world of pictures. In one snap shot you can immediately decide if you like something or not. I prefer to "like" things on my phone as I'm waiting for the bus or killing some time and then I go back later on my computer to categorize and pin. It definately makes those Doctor's office waiting rooms super interesting!
- People are so CREATIVE! I can't believe all the ideas there are on the wonderful worldwide web. I am so inspired and can't believe how such simple things can be so AMAZING! "If only I could have thought of that..." is on a broken record in my head pretty much the entire time I'm on Pinterest.
- I like that people are getting "back to the basics". When I was a little girl, I was always so fascinated with all aspects of homemaking (cooking, baking, cleaning, organization, sewing, making any kinds of crafts etc. ) and loved hearing stories of how things "used to be when you made your own soap" that I was pretty much a "grandma" at the ripe old age of 8. I loved these kinds of things so much that I MAJORED in it at BYU and got my degree in Home Economics Education (NKA: Family and Consumer Sciences). I can't believe how "COOL" I was before it was trendy! ha! Nah- seriously I love how economical everyone is. It's incredible to see how you can make amazing things out of a piece of paper or a paper clip.
What could be more Pintastic: (let me know if you have any fixes...)
- I wish that there was a contact address book included in Pinterest. I hate having to "manually" input email addresses into pins I want to email. It'd be awesome to be able to to click-to-select people who can contribute to my pin boards or when emailing pins.
- I'd like there to be an easier way to re-categorize a pin. So far when I change the category for a pin it will save the pin to the original category and the "new" category. My work around is to re-pin to the new category and then delete from the old category. But I dont' like that it 'repins' the pin again to the top of the main pin pages. So pretty much everyone probably thinks I keep pinning the same things over and over lol! nothing like "pinned by Sommer from Sommer" (guess I'm trying to get all the credit for the cute pins :oP)!
- Since Pinterest is a DIY Heaven- I have a million crafts to last me a life time.....it's the epitome of that box of fabric, scraps and partially finished projects we all have stashed away to "someday make something out of". Yet I keep on pinning....yeah, that's not gonna change anytime soon. But I hope to start a pinterest project soon... I'll keep you posted.
I totally AGREE! I get so caught up with pinterest...during the day on my phone and even when everyone's asleep you can find me lighting up my room with the light of PINTEREST! haha. Someday I'll actually go through and start trying out the different projects, organization, cleaning tips and yummy recipes! SOMEDAY;0) For now I'm loading up on inspiration!!
